Final 24- A Bit of Business

We're headed into the last day of the campaign so I thought we should clear a few things up and talk about the post-campaign. People who intend to add to their pledge later should pay SPECIAL ATTENTION.
1. We will send out a survey within two weeks of the completion of the campaign. This will allow you to allocate your pledge dollars as you wish and provide us with all of your contact information. At this point you can also add to your pledge.
2. If you need to pay for some of your pledge via paypal, we will ask you to return the survey with a request for a paypal invoice in the comments section.
3. We will then begin taking "pre-orders" on our soon-to-be-updated website. Initially this will include most if not all options available through this campaign. We will reach a point sometime around November 1 or so where we'll need to shift to pre-order for retail-level only options because we'll be moving into production.

CHROMANCER Adaptive Strategy Online Trading Card Game: by The Started Hare LLC Update #7 · Aug 27, 201

We've Added More Prizes to our Reward Tiers!

Dear friends,
We've been chatting with a lot of our backers and potential backers about the reward tiers, and have listened to your suggestions. We spent some time trying to figure out how best to reward our early adopters -- to figure out what would make sense both for adopters and for the health of the game economy when we launch.
We are pleased to announce two things:
First, we are introducing a new limited edition Kickstarter set of cards to Chromancer. This set, called Kickstarter Exclusive, consists of all the same cards in our 300-card release set, but with special and unique card design. Theonly way to get cards from this set will be to be a Kickstarter backer. Once Kickstarter is over, we will not create any more copies of this set! The cards will be tradable like everything else, but of course will increase in value over time. Note that all of the already-existing rewards still include cards from our regular set, The Primeval™. The Kickstarter Exclusive cards are only available in the Kickstarter Exclusive booster packs being added to every tier as explained below.

72 hours until Event Horizon and a New Deal

Breaking update title protocol :-)
So, here we are, at a new beginning. Our campaign has been in continual evolution since day 1. We, the uninitiated, made alot of mistakes, in large part due to our risk-averse position. Please know that we are not a big game company. We are just two guys: Jim Bailey and John Roberts . Our personal money and the financial security of our families are on the line here. The number we need to hit to feel secure personally for everything previously on offer is 155k. We're close enough to that as of the last couple of days to begin to take some real risks. That's good news for all of you :-)
We are doing two things, effective now:

Pack of Heroes - A Vintage Comic Superhero Card Game! by Adventureland Games Weapon Pack 6 Revealed! Update #41

Hello everyone!
Well in the final stages of the campaign, we just reached our final over-funding goal! That means Weapon Pack 6: The Celestial Legacy made it into the game! So here it is, some preview art for the final 2 weapon cards, Enyalius' Golden War Mace and The Invigorating Supernal Essence!

Defenders of the Realm: Minions by Eagle Games Update #15

NEW STRETCH GOAL at $85,000! The DEMON GENERAL wants to join the party!

I have moved the Alternate Demon General--the one without an artist sketch or a name--this is a leap of faith in the Realm folks--up to an $85K stretch goal.
If everyone opts to pledge the $15 needed to paint these 3 alternate Generals, not only will they look really cool, but we will also raise the needed $9,000 immediately and put us over the $85K needed to get that Demon General to join the PARTY with us!
Late fourth quarter rally time! Got it in 'ya?

Day D+25 Update- Stretches and Buckets updates

Another stretch busted! Man, we're racking up a lot of free figs and cards now. Let's go get that HMG APE at 120k!
John and I have been digging deep. I think we're all the way to China at this point :-) As we've said, the goal of this campaign is to get as much done as possible without causing us to have to borrow more money. We've been cautious to date as experience has taught us we need to be. We're not a big game company with a fat cash reserve sitting around. We've cut out all the fat now and are committed to getting our own cash contributions to this KS development reimbursed down the road at retail.  As of this moment, the AWESOME new stretch chart reflects the best we can do. We're taking a little risk on the stuff past 165k, thinking we can make it up on the backside. The personal risk for us is biggest at the 200k level plastic drop troopers but we're willing to accept that. Buckets of Blood: we hear you. There needs to be some more value for some of you who don't want board and t-shirt (silly kids!). We are doing three things beyond what we have already done, effective now:
1. You may exceed the amount of the items you are switching out and make up the difference by adding to your pledge.
2. You may now include the poster as one of your switch-outs in the calculus. If you wish to switch for JUST the t-shirt, we'll allow you to switch it out even-steven. Please don't make that statement more complicated than it is. Extra ten dollars, blah, blah, blah :-)

THE AGENTS - A Double-edged Cards Game

The End. The Beginning.

They came from every corner of the world. From every walk of life. They left their identities outside. High born or low, they were the same now. Fathers, sons, sisters, wives. That was left behind. They stood there. Looking. Silently. Breath coming out as wisps in the frozen air. Catching each other's eye, and then instantly looking away.
They didn't know what they'd found. What they'd done. But they knew that each of them would never be the same again. How could they be....after this.
They came here looking for something, though what that was, they could not say. And after 40 days and 40 nights they were changed. They had become a unit. A united front. A pack. Stronger together than alone, they knew that the world was theirs for the taking.
And so, The Agents rose up as one. They knew now who they were. And why they'd come. And they knew that before them, as comrades, allies and friends, lay a bright future ahead.
Oh, and by the way. Check this out;

PETS, VOODOO ISLAND In category Balrum news on August 19, 2013

We listened to you guys! :) The most requested addition to our game is companions! With our budget we can’t do companions the way most of you would like, and to be honest Balrum would not be the game it is with a large group. But, we always played with the idea of pets. Meaningful pets that are a strategic addition to combat! So we are announcing the addition of pets to the game! Pets won’t change the game as drastically like a full group of companions would, this way the main character stays a mysterious loner . :) As with nearly everything pets are an option, if you don’t like the idea of having an animal companion you can simply ignore the feature, we won’t force you to have a pet. :) To make pets meaningful pets in Balrum will have skills and will level up just like the player, and like your skills pet skills need to be trained they won’t just magically appear, you have to find someone (or a book) who can help you train your pet. There will be different types of pets:
-tank Bear/Boar
-melee Wolf/Spider
-ranged Spider/Eagle
-support Wisp/Deer
You will be able to order commands to your pet so you have total control over them. Your pet will have it’s own inventory(the poor thing will have to carry your stuff, not all pets have inventory space).
Pets will level up faster than the player but can’t be higher level than the player. This allows you to change your pet and have your new companion ready for real combat in a reasonable amount of time.
Taming will have to be learned! You will find NPCs around the world who will teach you the skill. There will be multiple levels of the taming skill and progressing in this skill will allow you to more tightly bond with your pet resulting in buffs and other interesting effects. You will be able to tame every animal in Balrum. So if you want a pig as your pet you can have your mighty warrior pig! :)
Also as this is a new feature (though we had plans for pets early on) we invite you to our forums where you can share your ideas with everyone and help us make decisions regarding pets. Pets will be financed out of our pockets.
Voodoo Island is an island close to the main continent and is inhabited by a peaceful tribe who live their lives in harmony with nature. The people of the island are religious extremist who won’t tolerate other beliefs than theirs. Voodoo Islands wildlife is distinct from the wildlife on the main continent. You can find exotic plants and exotic animals on this island.

Day D+25: Drop Troopers unlocked!

Pledge Calculator has been updated. We're now at 1.2. Grab the latest!
Drop Troopers!
The following two sets have been added to the add-on menu and are composed of metal miniatures on lipped plastic round bases. We will likely make individual models available after the Kickstarter. Our target to convert these to plastic and give all of this out in plastic for free to Buckets of Blood is $250k. Can you help get us all there?

THE AGENTS - A Double-edged Cards Game: Saar Shai Posted project update #20 Final Stretch Goal for the Home Stretch

Final Stretch Goal for the Home Stretch

Well, the time on our KS clock is running out, but my excitement for this campaign and adoration of you guys never will! I'm so excited to see what the final 58 hours have in store for us.
"There's no place like home"
I'm going to start with the biggest news first. This topic has been clogging up the airways over on the comments section for the past 24 hours and with the help of all your creative suggestions, I've decided on the FINAL STRETCH GOAL for this campaign.
This is something that Danny has been busting for, so I've let him off the...er...leash, and he's going to be working like a mad-man over the next few days to create some completely new illustrations that will become Kickstarter-exclusive Safe-house illustrations. We also have one particularly special idea for a safe-house location that will knock some of our more active commenter's socks off. Stay tuned ;-)
Stretch of the Imagination
And while we're talking Stretch Goals, I wanted to do a quick round up of every single unlocked stretch goal that we've unlocked during these magnificent 46 days. Remember, EVERY SINGLE COPY OF THE GAME comes with EVERY SINGLE STRETCH GOAL. This game is as loaded as your guns, my dear Agents.
1. Base Renovations: Upgraded base-set with a reinforcement of Agents
2. Black Ops: Free full expansion of top secret Missions
3. Higher Caliber: Upgraded cardstock
4. Break the Rules: Unlock new modes of play
5. iSpy: The Agents game application (Android/iOS)
6. KS Exclusive Black Box: An upgraded box with a Kickstarter exclusive design
7. Art of War: Digital artbook with Danny's designs
8. First Aid: Player-aid cards included in the base set
9. Point of Interest: KS Exclusive point cards
10. Rules of Engagement: Upgraded rulebook
And of course...
11. Plastic Surgery: The Agents just went 100% plastic; base set, boosters, expansions, everything.
We also unlocked the Print & Play files for every single expansion in the game!
More Agents join us
Here comes another showcase of some of Danny's glorious illustrations, this time, of the elite, KS-exclusive, Commanders unit.
I also wanted to give you guys a sneak peak into the inner workings of our "Secret Agents" expansion. These Agents are worth IPs in your hand at the end of the game, provided you fulfill their conditions:

Day D+23, Drop Troopers Are Coming!

I know it looks like we just snap our fingers and things happen but there is a ton of work behind the scenes to bring a new character or component to life. We had hoped to get the Drop Troopers into action in this campaign by now but we're still working! We'll have them up by Sunday at the latest and tomorrow night at the soonest. We're literally working around the clock.
Here's a little 1st draft teaser of some of the cards!

Incursion by Jim Bailey Posted project update #12 Day D+21 Calm Before The Storm

Good evening troops! As you know, we're headed into the final and most critical phase of the campaign over the coming week. John and I know we can count on each and every one of you to push as hard as you can to help get us to the 200 mark. Why is this important? At 200k, there is enough money in the pot to ensure that all of you benefit from a full complement of playing pieces for almost any possible combination of force allocation for any playable force in almost any mission as freebies at the higher pledge levels. Furthermore, the special dice and even more importantly, the plastic doors make it in for free. I think there are a few other goodies we can slip in between 170 and 200. Waterslide Decals and a big pack of MI-13 troopers with corresponding cards can probably happen in this space :-)

If you could create a TCG?

What would your TCG be like?

If you could create your own TCG would it be like, what kind of rules would there be? what kind of gameplay? would there be a limit on turns, cards, gameplay? what would make you want to play? leave us a comment and tell us about your dream TCG?

The Agents project update #19 SAFEHOUSES UNLOCKED

SAFEHOUSES UNLOCKED - You guys are the key!

My awesome backers. You keep on blowing me away with your support, enthusiasm, kind messages and crazy conversations about maple syrup over on comments.
The last couple of days have been exceptional. We hit 5,000 backers, closely followed by 5,000 comments. And at some point when my back was turned late last night we went ahead and hit TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!!
Wait. Isn't there something that's meant to happen about now? Oh yes. SAFEHOUSES UNLOCKED!!!
Home Sweet Home
This is the moment you've all been waiting for. I introduce the Safe-house booster to the base set, adding another dimension of game-play to The Agents.
The way that Safe-houses work is that they act as the foundation of each Faction i.e the first card laid down, in position, for each Faction, around which the Agents are placed. Agents can then be placed on either side of the Safe-house. Safe-houses feature data-token halves on each of their four corners, and therefore deliver a new way for players to gather points throughout the game. I've found this really helps the game kick off in a fun way, as players immediately have a way to gain points from the get go.

Grim World: Gaming Supplement for Dungeon World & FATE Core

Grim World is a dark fantasy supplement for the Dungeon World and Fate Core systems. It's full of 6 new class playbooks, full color character illustrations, and more!
Backing at any reward level gets you instant access to 6 class playbooks! Check the Updates tab for the download. We'll be taking all of your feedback until early October to make Grim World even better! Then, if successful, Grim World will be expanded and finished with high quality art and printed in a limited edition, full color books!

Check out a free preview of the classes:

Beyond the class playbooks you can download today, we want the finished physical (and digital!) book to be bigger, better, and more menacing. The supplement will be compatible with any fantasy setting, but with a grim twist.

Project Update #11: Day D+ 20 More Drop Armor and Designers Notes

Posted by Jim BaileyLike
105k! Another day, another stretch. We're starting to get into some really meaty freebies now in the form of specialist troopers. Let's get this campaign in gear!
I have just posted some designers notes written by John Roberts on the new characters from the Exclusive Pack #1 here on our blog. Check it out:
http://www.grindhousegames.com/blogs/incursion-blog/8717265-designers-notes
Everything I needed to know I learned from comic books.
Well, not really but there were some comic images that stuck really fast to my impressionable eight year old mind. I bought the two comics you see below from the rack at the local corner store: one in 1977 and one in 1978. These were DCs belated attempt to join the war effort :-) I of course went on to read alot of the DC war titles and Marvel Bronze classics like the Invaders. Later in life I started collecting actual Golden Age Timely and Fawcett classics including some early

CHROMANCER update #4

Gen Con Update, Alpha demo and lots more

TL:DR
Gen Con was great, we signed up lots of people who were interested and played our alpha demo. We'll be doing more playtesting this weekend for a limited number of people out of our kickstarter backers.  New Art, Lore section and more streaming on twitch coming later this week.
------

Hail loyal chromancers!

As most all of you know we have spent the past 5 days at Gen Con in Indianapolis. For those of you who are unaware, Gen Con is quite simply one of the biggest gaming conventions in the US.  More than 40,000 gamers attended this year, and a large portion of them were card- and board-gamers, which is exactly the kind of crowd we wanted to be showing the alpha version of our game to.
We ran an even throughout the convention, doing group demos and letting interested gamers get their hands dirty by playing against their friends, against other attendees and against the devs. Yes, some of them beat us at our own game, but these guys are serious card players after all!
Gen Con was an amazing experience and opportunity for us to connect with the people that will make up the early Chromancer community. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and most everyone was impressed at the depth of strategy and skill the game demands of its players. Several people came back two or three times for repeat matches! All in all, very successful with close to 500 people having signed up for new accounts. These will be generated tomorrow, and we of course hope to see a commensurate boost in our kickstarter backers as well.
Ok that’s great guys, but I wasn’t at Gen Con, I want to see the game, I want to see the ongoing development as well!
Ok ok, we hear you! Here’s what you can expect to see coming your way this week:

Alpha version demo session

Similar to what we did at Gen Con, we’ll be having a playtest session of our Alpha version of the game this coming weekend. We’ll release details closer to the event but suffice it to say for now that we will have the participants capped (probably around 50 people), it will be first come first served, and our kickstarter backers (that’s you!) will have first dibs on signing up. Further details will go out shortly in a backer-only update.

Lore !

We’ve talked about how we want our game to be fully integrated with our lore in order to create an immersive overall experience. The lore section of our site should be up and running soon and will feature some accompanying conceptual illustrations. Those of you who appreciate a good yarn and want the background of some of your soon-to-be-favourite-Hero characters fleshed out will enjoy this. We’re pushing hard to get this to you by the end of this week!

Card Art

We showed you Blood Dretch last update and for this one we have another nasty demon card, the infamous “Black Balrog”. For those of you that have had a chance to play-test with us at Gen Con, you’ll know this guy is one mean cookie and a pro at taking out Strongholds. We hope you enjoy the piece as much as we do!

Update #18 for The Agents

In which I do something drastic.

Update #18 · Aug 19, 2013 · comment

I woke up today and thought wouldn't be it be fantastic.
If today I UNLOCKED PLASTIC.
So I did!
That's right, dear backers, I've gone rogue. I'm breaking protocol. The excitement has gone to my head. I can't wait any longer. It's gotta happen. I need to do it now. As of this moment, The Agents just went 100% PLASTIC.
I know you have all eagerly been hoping to hit the Stretch Goal, and I'm confident that we're going to hit $222k in the next 6 days, but I decided that I didn't want to make you wait one more day.

HEX Update HEX in Your Hands - September Alpha, Demos Today at Gen Con

Hi HEXers. If you watched the Twitch stream last week, you heard that Cory confirmedalpha at the end of September. So, you'll have the alpha version of HEX in your hands in just a few weeks. Right now, we're at Gen Con Indy and attendees are getting a preview of HEX right now both at our booth (#731) and in the TCG hall with our 32-person LAN. A special thanks goes to our friends at NVIDIA, Dell, and Alienware for giving us the computers so we could let our attending fans play the game!

Incursion Project Update #9: Day D+18

Posted by Jim Bailey
100k! Right on! That's a pretty neat milestone. In celebration, John and I have rearranged the stretch goals just a smidgen to push some of the specialist troop freebies closer to the event horizon. We want to ensure that this is a one and done for absolute completists so that any reasonably
